Giles is a loss adjuster in the Commercial Property group.  He specialises in major building losses and engineering-related claims. He provides advice on issues such as loss mitigation measures, appointment of specialist services and contractors, repair contract management, code compliance issues, and policy response to repairs and seismic upgrading of buildings.  Giles has a wide range of loss adjusting experience in building, machinery, fire, and construction-related material damage losses.

He is also part of the firm’s catastrophe response group, providing surveying and project management support skills, particularly in relation to material damage losses to historic and devotional buildings, residential dwellings, and industrial property losses.

Giles has specialist knowledge in the building industry.  He also has strong communication, negotiation, and mediation skills when dealing with complex losses.

NZ$360,000.  Extensive earthquake damage to building, plant and equipment, and contents. Business interruption claim for ten month period until reinstatement was completed. Investigation into causation and evaluation of damage. Allocation of loss across successive events. Fully evaluated damage and monitored reinstatement.

Material Damage and Business Interruption Claim - Multi-event loss.  Multi-site Vehicle Storage and Administration, Christchurch, New Zealand

NZ$1.2 million. Extensive damage to buildings, plant, and stock. Business interruption claim for twelve month period.  Investigation into causation and evaluation of damage.  Allocation of loss across successive events.  Identification and valuation of reinstatement alternatives.

Material Damage Claim - Heritage-listed Devotional Buildings, Christchurch, New Zealand

NZ$200,000 - $1.5 million. Various sites.  Extensive damage to buildings and contents.  Initiation and monitoring of loss mitigation measures.  Evaluation of damage and investigation into economic feasibility of repair and seismic upgrading measures.

Material Damage Claim - TC3 Residential Properties, Christchurch, New Zealand

NZ$250,000 - $750,000.  Various sites.  Evaluation of damage and investigation into remedial / relevelling options and economic feasibiity of ground remediation measures.

NZ$300,000 - $750,000.  Various sites. Structural damage to buildings, plant, and stock. Multi-event loss. Business interruption claim for twelve month period.
