Alan entered the loss adjusting profession in 1984 after gaining extensive experience in the construction industry as a Chartered Building Surveyor. After holding senior technical roles and associate director positions with major international loss adjusting companies in the United Kingdom, Alan joined Godfreys in 2005.

Since arriving in New Zealand, Alan has continued to specialise in Commercial Property, Contract Works and transport infrastructure claims, leading multi-disciplinary adjusting teams on major losses and litigation support throughout Australasia and the Pacific. Alan approaches each assignment with an eye for detail, while delivering positive outcomes for all stakeholders in the claims process.

Examples of Work

Rail Infrastructure Claim – Kaikoura
Co-lead for earthquake damage to 200kms of rail line including bridges, track and earthworks. Total claim in excess of $200 million.

Catastrophe Claim – Hotel Chain, Fiji
Cyclone damage to a group of luxury hotels and their associated sea defences. $14 million claim for damage to buildings, plant & equipment with business interruption losses.

Fire Damage Claim – Commercial Building, Auckland 

$1 million of fire damage to buildings, including Loss of Rents claim.

Earthquake Claims – Christchurch, New Zealand
$20 million claim for earthquake damage to substantial commercial property development.
